Captions masterclass
Half day ( 5, 1/2 hrs) workshop introducing you to all you need to know about captions.
This workshop will take place on zoom. There will be a maximum of 10 people in any session to allow for discussion and interaction.
Who is it for?
Anyone looking to make their video content more accessible or learn more about processes.
What skill level do I need?
You do not need to have any filmmaking experience to take part in this course. We will cover rudimentary principles and practices to highly technical solutions working with mobile technology and computers.
Who will be taking the class?
Felix Gilfedder has been lecturing in film for 6 years and has over 15 years experience working in the film and TV industry, including creating accessible digital content with clients including Solar Bear Theatre Company and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
What will the course cover
PART 1
An introduction to the world of captions. Everything you need to know before you get started. Answering the all important questions: what are captions, subtitles, descriptive captions and how do we work with colour, formatting, font, dialogue and music.
part 2
A look at the different type of captions – closed, open, creative and live captions.
PART 3
A complete A-Z of all your captioning tools and processes from on-the-spot captioning on your mobile phone, to feature film captioning.
There will also be a practical element to the course with an opportunity to do some hands on captioning.
